I've never had the computer try to install a new driver in the many times I've disconnected the scanner and reconnected it, (except on the original install). However, after a couple lengthy trips to Uniden Repair, I was given a factory refurbished unit as a replacement to my original. The factory refurb unit exhibits none of the original VHF/UHF issues.The refurb unit is actually better than my x36 ... Look at the specs for the bottom one, that comes with a cable. It's 5 volts at 3.4 amps. Of the other two, the top one is 4.8 amps, and the second one is 4.8 amps, or if using both ports, 2.4 amps per port.
